JOAN MIRO

JOAN MIRO (1893 – 1983) is one of the great artists of the 20th Century. Born in the Catalan region of Spain, Miro’s prodigious output included paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, tapestries and stage designs. He was also a renown printmaker.

Miro published his first prints in 1928 and for the next half century he used virtually every technique of the printer’s art to expand his creativity, breaking rules and defining new directions every step along the way. His unique iconographic images represent a simplicity and humanity that are universally recognized and appreciated.

Jane Kahan Gallery deals in Miro tapestries, paintings and sculpture, and we are internationally known for our outstanding collection of high-quality Miro prints, particularly the large and important Etchings-Aquatint-Carborundums, as well as examples of the better lithographs. Miro’s prints are not reproductions of paintings but “multiple originals” created by the artist.
